Pattaya, located in the heart of Thailand, is a paradise that enchants its visitors with its exotic beauty. With its turquoise sea, lively nightlife, delicious cuisine, and rich historical texture, it’s a place every traveler must experience. I had the opportunity to live in this unique city for seven months, exploring everything from its most hidden corners to its most popular spots. The places I saw, the flavors I tasted, and the culture I embraced were so mesmerizing that I’m now eager to share these experiences with you and help you discover the most beautiful places in Pattaya. If you’re ready, let’s embark on a journey through the Pattaya Travel Guide!
1. Walking Street
Walking Street, the beating heart of Pattaya’s nightlife, is the city’s liveliest and most popular street. Closed to traffic in the evening, this bustling avenue is packed with bars, clubs, restaurants, and entertainment venues. For nightlife enthusiasts, it’s nothing short of paradise. During the day, the area is much quieter, offering various shopping opportunities. Along Walking Street, you can also find numerous sea-view restaurants where you can savor local delicacies.
Due to the large Indian population, many clubs play Indian music, which made finding my favorite spot a bit challenging. If you’re looking for live music venues with English songs, away from Thai and Indian tunes, I highly recommend “Candy Shop.” They have an amazing live band. If I’m not mistaken, the band rotates every 2-3 hours, but each group knows how to entertain the crowd perfectly. Additionally, you can explore the venues along Jomtien Walking Street for more options.
Highlights
- Enjoy live music performances and dance the night away.
- Watch fascinating street artist performances.
- Savor Thai cuisine at seafood restaurants along the street.
2. Pattaya Beach / Jomtien Beach
Pattaya’s most famous beach, Pattaya Beach, stretches for about 4 kilometers and is located quite close to the city center. It’s an ideal spot for both swimming and water sports. You can relax at the cafes lining the shore or try activities like parasailing and jet skiing. Due to its proximity to the city center, Pattaya Beach is one of the most popular destinations for tourists.
On the other hand, you can also opt for Jomtien Beach for swimming and water sports. In my opinion, I’d recommend spending your time at Jomtien Beach rather than Pattaya Beach. Jomtien offers a more peaceful and spacious atmosphere, plus the water is cleaner. With its palm trees, wide sandy areas, and high-rise buildings nearby, it gives off a Miami vibe.
However, since both beaches are in the city center, they’re not as ideal for swimming as the islands. If you’re looking for pristine waters to swim in, the islands around Pattaya are a better choice. Koh Samet, in particular, offers the perfect waters for swimming. I’ll write a more detailed post on “Pattaya Beaches and Islands” soon.
Highlights
- Engage in water sports like parasailing, jet skiing, and banana boating.
- Watch the sunset and take a relaxing walk along the shore.
- Enjoy a beachfront massage for ultimate relaxation.
3. Big Buddha Hill (Wat Phra Yai)
One of the must-see places in Pattaya is the Big Buddha Hill, located at the highest point in the city and home to a massive Buddha statue. Standing at 18 meters tall, this impressive Buddha draws a lot of attention from tourists. From the hill, you can also enjoy stunning panoramic views of Pattaya. It’s the perfect spot for those interested in exploring the city’s religious and cultural landmarks.

- Enjoy the panoramic view of Pattaya from the hill and take beautiful photos.
- Chat with monks to learn more about Thai traditions and beliefs.
- Buy souvenirs, including miniature Buddha statues, from the local shops.
4. Sanctuary of Truth Museum
Let me start by clarifying, friends—this place is a museum, not a temple. This is something all guides are sensitive about, and I had the chance to work as a guide here for months. Despite this, everyone continues to call this incredible museum a temple. But now that you know the truth, you can correct those who make this mistake.
One of the most impressive structures in Pattaya, the Sanctuary of Truth, is a massive museum made entirely of wood. This architectural marvel reflects both Thai culture and the philosophies of Buddhism and Hinduism. Every corner of the museum is adorned with intricate carvings, offering visitors valuable insights into Thailand’s rich cultural heritage. During my time working here, I had the opportunity to guide tours and delve deeper into the significance of the structure. Visitors are given detailed information by us guides during a 1-hour tour, which is included in the ticket price.
There is much more to discuss about this magnificent museum, which I will cover in a separate post. Be sure to check it out!

This impressive artwork was created in 1996 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of King Rama IX’s ascension to the throne and was completed in just two days. Approximately 5,000 grams of 24-karat gold leaf were used to decorate the Buddha figure. The artworks on display are created using optical illusion techniques, making them look as though they are part of real life. Built in 2000, this grand estate reflects Thailand’s cultural and religious values, particularly Buddhism. Its vibrant decor, featuring gold and pink tones, immediately captures attention. The property includes various temples, statues, gardens, and ponds. Although the entrance fee is 500 baht, it’s worth it due to the vast area and the inclusion of a meal. BONUS 🥳
25. 89 Show Pattaya
89 Show Pattaya is a vibrant night show known for its bold live performances. With eye-catching stage decorations, costumes, and music, this show highlights the more risqué side of Thai culture in a daring and explicit manner. While some may leave within the first five minutes, others watch the entire performance, captivated by its audacity. Though not widely known in Pattaya, I’m adding it here for you to consider. In my opinion, it offers a more artistic and acrobatic experience than the raunchier shows on Walking Street, making it a higher-quality alternative.
